I just experienced just how sneaky the Google and Yahoo search Bots can be. Yesterday I sent an unknown URL via IM to a friend over Google Talk IM. This morning in the HTTP logs are 2 distinct visits directly to the full URL from both Google and Yahoo bots!

Iptables Attack Visualization

Here is software to graph iptables data with Gnuplot and AfterGlow. You can easily see attacks such as port sweeps, Slammer and Nachi worm traffic, and outright compromises of systems. The data source in these examples comes from the Honeynet Project, and this was the subject of a talk at OSCON (slides are available for download).

De-anonymizing Tor and Detecting Proxies

This code (it takes a several seconds to load) uses a piece of JavaScript to instantiate a Java socket call back to the origin site. In doing so it bypasses the proxy settings of the browser, allowing you to de-anonymize people using proxies. It works great for Tor or just about any HTTP proxy that I can think of. Cool stuff.
